A good end to a long week..

So it’s finally the weekend! And this is the first day this week that Luna has been able to run. I think Tuesday I may have taken her to the park to run for like 20 minutes before work, but to be honest that may have been last week.  I really can’t remember. It has been that sort of week. I’m SO happy it’s over.. hopefully we can both find a way to gear up for another week of it come Tuesday. Anyway, Luna finally got some running in this evening after I got home from work. We went to the cemetary for a walk, only to arrive and find my husband’s mom locking the gate so she could have free run (it pays to have connections 😉 ) And run she did.. she was hunting probably 98% of the time we were there.. quartering back and forth catching first the cat’s scent then on to squirrels, then she got on a rabbit trail and that was the end of anything else. She hunted hard for that bunny.. and found it, but didn’t see it run, she just knew she lost it. We saw the direction it ran and took her downwind. She ended up jumping it and tearing off after it at a dead run.  She managed to not run into anything (no surprise to me, she is rather aware and certainly agile) and then came back when I called her off it.

We went inside for a bit to visit but then went on our way.  Watching my pup hunt so hard was a good end to a long work week… even if it wasn’t for birds and may not be teaching her the best habits.  She got a good run from it, and I now get to enjoy a tired dog for the first time all week. And I’m not even going to bother to ruin it by giving her a bath to get rid of the mud she collected (especially since it’s going to rain tomorrow).

And now, time to hit the hay.. but here are some random totally seasonally incorrect photos.. hoping for swimming weather soon…

The defining moment… Balance, coordination, and strength… she held out hope that she could paddle the toy back over.

she was reaching for a clump of dog hair of all things... weirdo.. sometimes I wish she didn't have such a high prey drive.

Couldn’t resist posting this one of her buddy bosley.. this is what he looks like wet.. darn the “guard” behind him messing up the shot. maybe they get along so well because they both posses so much leg?? a thought anyway. These pictures were from the Dog Pool Day.. a lot of the public pools around here let the dogs have free run at the end of the season before they close them for the year. Luna had a blast and a half.. can’t wait to take her next year.. and I will be smart enough to wear some shorts not my work jeans..

G’night..

  1. Awwww… I have no idea how I ended up on this blog, but I’m glad I did. Luna is beautiful! And, as a dog owner, I know how much fun bunny chasing is.
