Blizzard of 2010

So here is the first of probably several posts concerning the blizzard we just went through (though safely tucked in our warm house). Just wanted to post some photos of the snow we have gotten over the last 48 hours. If you want to see more feel free to check out my photo blog. I am going to try and keep the posts here somewhat tied to Luna still, despite all the snow.

As I type, both vizslas are passed out on the couch, one on each side of me. Sam is beginning to snore, and Luna keeps kicking her legs around trying to find the perfect position. They had a pretty busy day. Luna woke up to see this…:

Yard at 9AM.. probably have 20 inches or more

Contemplating whether she really needed to go outside..

Bit of perspective

So yes, lots of snow. The played while I shoveled and this evening we managed to get out for a walk (on the rather sanely deserted roads).  At the last minute we decided to walk to the cemetary in hopes of letting them run a bit. Ha, I wish I could have gotten a good video of this “running.”  But as murphy’s law would have it, the batteries died on the lil cam. So maybe tomorrow.. Basically the snow is taller than Luna’s back so she can’t exaclty run, but must swim/leap instead. Pretty hilarious. Hopefully tomorrow I can get out with the camera for a real walk and get some pics.  But I have a feeling for the remainder of the weekend we won’t be driving anywhere, nor would I want to. Alright for the sake of not getting too wordy I will wrap up. Couple (rather horrible) shots of the pups in the snow.

Searching together

I have noticed something about Luna.. when she is in ANY sort of area that she feels may hold game (these days that’s rabbits, cats, sometimes mice), or has in the past, all she wants to do is hunt. Even when she has a buddy with her, they are simply with her, she is not with them 😉 . They often will follow her around as she does her own thing running and sniffing here or there. Pretty amazing that she is that focused even with no game birds present and with a male vizsla in the picture.  If Same is here to learn independence I can’t think of a better dog to teach him.

Finally,

27+ inches of snow makes for a tired Vizsla girl.

G’night all
