So I figured I would post updates in pieces based on subject. Or so that’s the plan. That way you won’t die of suspense (ha, as if).
There has been quite a bit that has happened since the last post. Like our first official real snow. Upwards of 6 inches. It was hard to tell how much we really got because it also rained on top of it and then froze and then snowed more. And now it is finally melted out of the yard, and we have mud instead.. But at the time…
there was dancing to be had (typical thing for Luna and Dover to be doing, they are quite fond of each other)…
“fake points” while running in the field…
which wouldn’t be complete without spit strings, that’s how you know your dog is having a good time…
which probably had something to do with all the snow sniffing…
wonder where Wyatt gets it from 😉
And a pretty profile shot to top it all off.
Yes, they had fun, I have tons more pictures (Wyatt may get his own post soon *gasp* ). Luna largely has no problem with the snow when it involves running about, exploring, hunting, or when it’s being thrown for her. Did I tell you I found a new way to tire them out? It’s called Endless Snowballs. You throw a snowball for them to get, then by the time they get to that one you call them and send another one in the opposite direction. You’d be amazed at how long this kept them entertained. Wyatt eventually learned there was no point running after it if Luna was already on her way as he would not beat her to it. Or would you just call that Laziness? In any case it was the only way to really entertain both of them in the yard, when I didn’t feel like taking a walk in the bird field. And as far as Wyatt and the snow are concerned, he loves it and would stay out all day (if we were out with him…) Just give him an old juice container and he is good to go out in the snow.
Anyway, that’s part of what we’ve been up to since the last post. Stay tuned for more.
Happy Thursday
Luna is stunning! Her color really stands out in the white snow. We’ve been trapped by too much snow and ice since Jan 8th. Imagine all that pent up energy limited to running on icy paths that you managed to snow blow in the yard before everything froze … that’s us. At one point the dogs could jump up and walk on the frozen landscape, but now it’s warmed up a bit and they’re punching through it, which is kinda risky for ACLs and shoulders. So it’s back to the icy paths. Ug!
Glad your gang is having a spittin’ fun time!
Thank you, I occasionally get lucky. Sounds like your winter is much like ours was last year. We didn’t see the ground for at least 2 months. I don’t like icy paths for myself or my dogs, I worry about them pulling something if they slip. So I don’t know what I would do in your situation. I hope it somehow gets better soon. Do they enjoy learning tricks? I know we worked on some last winter, but Luna thinks she’s too smart for tricks. Nose games help too, like hiding a toy and having them search it out. Maybe when you are able to get out you could take them somewhere to walk in a store/mall or something.
Good Luck, and thanks for stopping by
